Alex Herzlinger is an entrepreneur, Bostonian, infantry dude, and fun-loving guy. Alex grew up near Boston and graduated from Harvard in 2000, where he played varsity football with future NFL stars Matt Birk and Isaiah Kacyvenski. After Harvard, along with 2 of his class of 1600, Alex entered the US Army as an infantry officer. He served for 8 years in a variety of leadership positions, including 5.5 years on active duty with 2 combat tours in Iraq as part of the 10th Mountain Division. After the Army, Alex spent some time in consumer products supply chain management. In 2007 he made two monumental decisions: moving back to Boston to attend Harvard Business School and (more importantly) marrying his wonderful fiancee Brenda Case.
Alex came to Harvard Business School to get involved in the healthcare industry. After a great internship in medical device product management, he returned to HBS and began brainstorming business plan ideas with his buddy Tina Wu. And from there, YouTea! was born . . .
What you may not know or guess about Alex: he sang in the glee club and captained the mock trial team in high school. He once sat on a cactus in the Mojave Desert. He hates wearing jeans and paying for parking, but likes driving. He loves weightlifting (you probably guessed that), yoga, and running. Above all else, he loves the New England Patriots and long walks with his wife Brenda.
